Margie Margentino and Kay Birkholt visited the Gayla Driving Center for power packed 2 days of lessons in preparation to learn more about Therapeutic Driving. The Lord Stirling Stable /Somerset County Park Commission from Basking Ridge, NJ are in the development stages of adding a Therapeutic Driving program to their existing equine operation. This new program will be structured to help many Para equestrian drivers and veterans.
Margie and Kay were continuing their education on how to evaluate and prepare the equine for the lesson that day. They worked on the proper way to holding all 4 reins for the able-bodied driver in preparation for the student. It was very helpful practice for them to learn how to plan, design and execute the lesson with volunteer student Hannah Blevins.
Exact procedures was practiced and executed in the proper order and sequence from harnessing, hitching, loading and unloading with safety of the upmost importance.
